The King's Speech is a historical drama that tells the inspiring story of Prince Albert, who unexpectedly becomes King George VI of the United Kingdom. Afflicted by a severe stammer, he struggles with the art of public speaking, an essential task for a modern monarch. As war threatens Europe, the pressure mounts. In a desperate attempt to improve, he seeks the help of an unconventional speech therapist, Lionel Logue. Despite their differences, a powerful friendship is born between them. With patience, humour and determination, Logue helps the king face his fears. The film explores themes of vulnerability, duty and personal growth. Colin Firth gives a deeply moving performance as the king. Geoffrey Rush shines as Logue, bringing wit and warmth. Together they bring to life one of the most personal and powerful royal transformations in history.
