In A way home, follows the life of Saroo Brierley, a five-year-old Indian boy who gets lost on a train and ends up thousands of miles from home, only to be adopted by an Australian couple. Twenty-five years later, armed only with his memories and the technology of Google Earth, Saroo embarks on a quest to be reunited with his birth family.
This film combines drama and tenderness in a story of self-discovery and the power of love. Dev Patel shines with a performance full of emotion and regret, while Rooney Mara, Nicole Kidman and David Wenham provide simple but profound support. Every scene is bathed in the beauty of the soundtrack and cinematography, transporting us from the bustling streets of Calcutta to the tranquil landscapes of Tasmania.
It is a narrative of perseverance, revealing how powerful memory and hope can be. Despite its emotional tone, it avoids excessive sentimentality, choosing authenticity.
A film that comforts and moves, reminding us that, even in the most unexpected, home may be closer than we imagine.
