The Proposal is a funny and charming romantic comedy revolving around Margaret Tate (played by Sandra Bullock), a strict and feared Canadian-born book editor working in New York. When she faces imminent deportation to Canada due to a visa problem, she devises a desperate plan to keep her job: force her assistant, Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds), to marry her.

Andrew reluctantly agrees, but makes it a condition that they travel to his hometown in Alaska to meet his peculiar family. What begins as a purely professional arrangement turns into an adventure full of awkward situations, emotional moments and plenty of humour. Surrounded by the warmth (and eccentricity) of the Paxton family, both Margaret and Andrew begin to question their intentions... and discover that, perhaps, what they were pretending could become real.

With a perfect blend of romance, comedy and tenderness, The proposal offers a light but endearing story about second chances, self-discovery and unexpected love.
